buttons with .ico icon instead of .bmp icon, possible?

i'm a complete newbie...
i started making a program myself after taking the tuts on this site...
now i'm faced with a gui problem... i want my buttons to have the icon i made... i found how to give a button a bitmap face but not how to asign it a face with a .ico file... is this possible to do or does it not support .ico faces?
