good place or book to learn delphi

hello im fairly new to delphi, all u can say that i know rite now is the delphi ide. i have no idea about delphis language. i really want to learn and all my friends are telling me to just try to learn off of source codes. but i dont like doing that cuz then i dont really learn the reasons for the certain commands. so if there is any one out there that can help me find a good place or book to learn and study delphi, then i would greatly appreciate it. thanks!
