Delphi DBLookupComboBox show selected

I have a dblookupcombobox that lists all reasons for a particular action. There are two identical (except for names) datasources and queries for this control. It works fine in setting the value of the field in the table.
The problem is that when the record is re-displayed, I want the existing reason for that record to be the one displayed by default in the dblookupcombobox, and this I can't get. Is there a way to get this to occur?
